Position Description:
The Information/Business and Technical Architect will be responsible for interfacing between the Business and Solutions Architects for a complex enterprise development project. The successful candidate will develop documentation (site maps, navigation models, content models) for the project and will ensure consistency and continuity of meaning in the processes, products and success metrics the team uses, creates and measures its outcomes with. S/he will be responsible for the continuity, consistency and purposefulness of the resulting user experiences. A firm understanding of user-centered design processes and information architecture principles is essential.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to:
- Creating the information architecture for the project solution
- Work closely with Business and Solutions Architects to translate business requirements into meaningful experiences
- Understanding target audiences’ needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into easily discoverable elements
- Assist in the formulation of strategy and generates the documentation necessary to assist the team and the client in explaining and understanding the nature of the experiences that end-users will have
- Assist the project team in prioritizing, selecting and arraying specific tactics in ways that protect the continuity, consistency and purposefulness of the resulting user experiences
- Assist in the formulation of overall categorization and navigation strategy
- Lead participatory design/user testing sessions (with oversight and direction).

- Prepare, conduct, and analyze behavioral in-context research events (with guidance and oversight)
- Analyze, synthesize, and organize research data into meaningful themes, categories, and visually compelling frameworks and behavioral models
- Identify opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience, based on user research; organize opportunities into visually compelling matrices or maps
- Execute participatory requirements gathering sessions and participate in debrief sessions (with guidance and oversight); create feature lists from sessions
- Develop personas/segmentations based on research findings (with guidance and oversight)
- Create engaging scenarios and develop frameworks describing key aspects of a proposed experience, and how it reconciles business and user needs
- Create visually compelling representations of the solution’s high-level interaction, navigation, and organization design (i.e., concept models)
- Assist the project team in prioritizing, selecting and arraying specific tactics in ways that protect the continuity, consistency and purposefulness of the resulting user experiences
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Seasoned experience as an information architect or as an experienced professional with relevant IA skills
- Advanced proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Visio, as well as the MS Office Suite
- Strong technical writing, documentation development, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong consulting skills are necessary along with experience leading large group meetings / brainstorming sessions
- Certifications in related business competencies also desired
- Experienced in establishing architectural Policies, Standards, Principles, Guidelines, and Best Practices
- Extensive background in Architecture and design
- Knowledge of general enterprise application security APIs and protocols
- Excellent analytical and process-oriented skills
- Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to execute on IA of complex taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and templates for content management system of diverse product segments.
- Demonstrated ability to implement strategic goals develop big ideas, and execute against them in a highly collaborative and distributed environment
- Demonstrated experience using analytics data to inform design decisions and quantitative IA methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to design experiments to measure IA performance
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- High tolerance for ambiguity matched only by a desire to organize it
- Experience in multi-cultural environment
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring to be able to accomplish efficient knowledge transfer in general; to accomplish specific knowledge transfer in the areas of data and data architectures and; to accomplish specific knowledge transfer in the areas of tools, techniques and methodologies.
- Demonstrated broad technical knowledge, management discipline, strong leadership and organization skills, creativity and technical vision.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in medium to large IT and/or system implementation projects
- Experience in dealing with clients at all levels of the organization
- Experience in leading cross-functional / cross-departmental teams
- Experience in any of the following industries is preferred: Transportation, Corrections, Healthcare, Utilties, Justice
Education, Certification, Training & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field.
