DELEGATA TO LEAD “MENTORING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION” SESSION AT GOVERNMENT TRANSFORMATION FORUM
Sacramento, California. February 02, 2015. The seismic shift created by Millennial employees (born between 1980’s and 2000’s) entering the workforce has many organizations scrambling to figure out how to work with and develop a first-time work force that seems to demand more attention and real-time feedback than their predecessors. At the same time that Millennials are entering the workforce, Baby Boomers are beginning to enter their retirement window. As these two trends converge, the future success of organizations will hinge on their ability to steward knowledge transfer and experience to the up-and-coming Millennial workforce.
In the Mentoring for the Next Generation session, Lorraine Rinker, Senior Principal at Delegata, will moderate a lively discussion with California State Agency mentors and mentees about their experience with the mentoring process. Mentor Liana Bailey-Crimmins, CIO at CalPERS, and Mentee Joshua Pocus, Associate Information Systems Analyst at CalPERS will share their experiences with an Informal Mentoring Program, as Mentor Cathy Cleek, CIO at Franchise Tax Board (FTB), and Mentee Marian McKenna, Bureau Director of National Audit Business Bureau at FTB share their experiences with a Formal Mentoring Program.
In this information-rich session, attendees will learn about resource-efficient ways to mentor the next generation. Lorraine will demonstrate how seemingly divergent Non-Millennials (Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, or Generation X) and Millennial employees actually have more in common than workforce development experts originally thought and the panelists will highlight the value of mentoring and coaching as a way to attract, develop, and retain an actively engaged multi-generational workforce.
Join us for this lively session at 10:30am on February 4th to learn how Delegata and leading California Agency CIO’s are managing organizational transformation by successfully Mentoring for the Next Generation!
